Diablo Immortal takes place between Diablo II and Diablo III. It has all the elements of the dark gothic fantasy world, fast-paced hack and slash combat, and the loot system the series is all about. Players will fight through familiar environments including Wortham and new areas as they learn the truth behind the corruption that has infested Sanctuary.
Given that the game is an MMOARPG,
it is tightly interconnected with multiplayer features that include shared social zones and four-player dungeons. But the main campaign and open world zones are still available for single player experience. At launch, players will be able to select from six classes that focus on the slaying of demons and the collection of loot: the Barbarian, Monk, Wizard, Crusader, Demon Hunter, and Necromancer.
It has been designed to support mobile devices and the play style associated with mobile game experience. Some of the fundamental mechanics of Diablo have been translated to touch screen controls. Due to procedural generation, the layouts of the dungeons are never the same, which means lasting replay value.
When it comes to cross-play and cross
-progression, players are free to jump between their Android phone and PC without worrying about the consequences. The game also includes support for controllers for those players who are more accustomed to using the traditional Diablo controls.
With Diablo Immortal, Blizzard wants to give fans and newcomers a pure Diablo experience on mobile devices. The game goes into a closed beta phase in December of 2021, with open testing and the official Android launch in 2022.
